First Official Action by Spanish Police Following the Death of Tenerife Player

Al-Taj News – The Spanish National Police, through the homicide division, opened an investigation into the death of CD Tenerife player Jesús de Miguel, following a violent collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono that caused him to suffer cardiorespiratory arrest during a Spanish second-division football match.

The Spanish National Police announced on Tuesday the initiation of investigative proceedings into the incident, in coordination with the public prosecution.

The procedure does not imply that charges have been brought against the goalkeeper or that his responsibility for the death has been established, but rather pertains to investigating the circumstances of the incident.

CD Tenerife had announced that its player Jesús de Miguel, who played as a forward, died after suffering cardiac arrest resulting from an on-pitch collision during a Spanish second-division match, passing away at the age of 30.
